Reasons why papers get rejected

I’ve recently been helping a PhD student to get a paper published. It had been rejected by reviewers twice but recommended for a third (but definitely last) attempt at publication because the results were interesting. They had just been presented badly.
The author’s main problem was lack of focus on one clear main message. Working on the paper with her reminded me of the information on Pat Thompson’s blog on 7 reasons why papers get rejected. I don’t really like to send you away from us, but I can certainly recommend this blog for anyone interested in improving their writing.
